Selma police continue to search for a suspect in the shooting death Tuesday of Randy Miles of Selma.
Miles’ body was discovered Tuesday about 10:30 p.m. near the intersection of Eugene Avenue and Lawrence Street. He suffered a gunshot wound to the chest.
Detective Lt. Mike Harris asked that people in the area that might know something about the shooting death please contact the police department.
“Unfortunately, we haven’t been able to come up with a suspect,” Harris said Wednesday afternoon. “We haven’t got anything to work with.”
Harris said police officers and detectives have beaten on doors in the neighborhood most of the day to turn up some leads.
Asked if it were possible that Miles could have been killed somewhere else and his body dumped in the street just three houses down from a primitive Baptist church, Harris said he did not rule out any possibilities at the present.
Miles’ body was taken to the Department of Forensic Sciences in Montgomery, where an autopsy was scheduled. The body was due back late Wednesday.
Anybody with information on the case is asked to contact the Selma Police Department’s secret witness line at 874-2190 or Crimestoppers at 877-3530.
