Selma Police investigators are still looking for answers in a murder that took place in the early morning hours of Christmas Eve.
As of Monday, Lt. Mike Harris, who is heading the investigation, said they are still working all angles to make an arrest.
“Leads have been developed and the investigation is progressing,” he said. “We have interviewed a few people and we are still seeking seeking out some other people to interview.”
A key to the investigation, Harris said, will be determining the caliber of weapon used. Right now, he said, information is still being gathered and investigators are waiting on lab results.
“We are still waiting to get some information from forensics,” he said. “Once they are done with their testing we’ll have a better idea.”
According to the department, officers responded to a call at 1 a.m. Friday of a shooting on Hope Drive off Old Montgomery Highway near Craig Field.
As a result, Reuben Stitten of Selma died of a gunshot wound.
The incident was the second shooting to take place last week. The previous incident, which took place Wednesday on South Avenue near the U.S. Hwy. 80 bypass, left one man injured and another in custody.
Kachavious Latrell Moore was taken into custody shortly after the shooting.
The victim, who was struck in the leg, is expected to make a full recovery.
