Mrs. Velma Gene Carter Blocton was born March 27, 1945 to the late Mrs. Arizona Blocton and Mr. John D. Carter, Sr.

Services are scheduled for January 15, 2011 at Miller Funeral Service Chapel. Burial will follow in Elmwood Cemetery directed by Miller Funeral Service of Selma.

She leaves to cherish her memories a husband, Mr. Sinnie Blocton of Selma, AL; children, Adrian (Gillie)  Blocton of Hazen, AL and Lewis Blocton of Detroit, MI; sisters, Frances Bell, Detroit, MI, Elvesta White, Rheunell Blocton and Annie Youngblood all of Montgomery, AL, Susie Carter Dillard of Cincinnati, OH; brothers, Jerry (Eula) Blocton, Whitehall, AL, Willie (Lillie) Webb and John (Annie) Carter, Jr. of Selma, AL, Alfred (Ora) Goodwin and Marion (Kim) Blocton of Detroit, MI, Olando (Marshall) Blocton of Montgomery, AL, and Robert Carter of Cincinnati, OH; aunt, Ms. Seonia Goodwin of Detroit, Michigan; grandchildren, Adrienne and Cassie; three devoted friends and caregivers, Jacqueline Robbins, Shirley Pettaway, and Debra Blocton all of Selma, Alabama.
