Fraternity to mark century

The Selma Alumni chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity inc. will host its annual Founders’ Day Program Jan. 15 at 1 p.m. at Mount Ararat Baptist Church in Selma.
The event will celebrate the fraternity’s centennial year.
Founded Jan. 5, 1911 in Bloomington, Ind., Kappa Alpha Psi is an international fraternity which has 364 chapters on college campuses, 347 alumni chapters in the United States and five other countries including Germany and South Africa.
“This will be an extraordinary event,” said Bruce Barnes, Polemarch of the Selma Alumni Chapter. “It gives our members an opportunity to reflect on the many accomplishments of our fraternity from 1911 to 2011.”
Since 1911 Kappa Alpha Psi fraternity has initiated more than 150,000 members. According to Barnes, the fraternity has remained committed to its principal of achievement in every field of human endeavor.
