Lady Trojans searching for identity

Meadowview Christian School’s softball team is still finding its identity.
The Lady Trojans (0-4, 0-1) struggled to catch the ball during their 11-5 loss to Evangelical Christian Academy.
“We have got to find out who wants to play and who doesn’t,” Lady Trojans coach Brian McIntrye said. “This game is more than just hitting, it more than just catching. You have to want to work hard and we are trying to find the players to do that.”
Meadowview began giving up runs on errors in the very first inning.
Before the Lady Trojans could even get their first at-bat, they trailed 4-0 off of three errors.
They would respond in their half of the inning though when after a Rachael Eggert double, Taylor Hayes ripped a double of her own, the first of her three hits on the afternoon, to bring the score to 4-1.
ECA would but put up two runs in the second inning, three in the fourth inning and two more in the sixth to pull out to an 11-1 lead, but MCS wouldn’t quit.
In the home half of the sixth it would again be Hayes starting things with a single. She would move to third on a single from Brittnee Everhart and driven in when Meggie Tippin grounded the ball to second base and beat out the throw.
Both Everhart and Tippin would score on mistakes by ECA as well later in the inning and after one final run, the scoring would in.
“They kind of helped us get back in the game,” McIntrye said. “Just like we helped them at the start. I thought we were improving these past three games, but this isn’t what we needed.
We’ve got a lot left to play though and we will find those who want to play, not just show up, even if its younger girls.”
