The response to Henry Brick chairman of the board Ted Henry being selected for induction into the Alabama Business Hall of Fame was overwhelming. But, based on the comments of those who knew of the honor, it also came as no surprise.

“I would have nominated him myself if I could have,” former Selma-Dallas County Chamber of Commerce president Jamie Wallace said.

“I would have made the motion. And would have seconded the motion.”

Comments online in response to the story ranged from “couldn’t think of anyone more deserving” to “it’s an honor for Selma to have produced such an outstanding individual.”

And, to both of those comments, we add our congratulations as well.

But, Mr. Henry is in good company.

In the past year alone, a number of area businesses and business leaders have been recognized for their outstanding contributions to their fields of work and their community.

All of this goes to show the quality of merchants, business owners and leaders that choose to do business in Selma.

While others have found the goal challenging, these individuals and companies have thrived.

Maybe it has a lot to do with the type of business, the type of product they make or the service they provide, but in talking with Henry it may be something much more basic.

“I have found that you’ve got to hire good people with good attitudes,” Henry said when asked of the one business tip he would offer someone. “You simply have a better chance of being successful.”

We couldn’t agree more. And, based on the type of people we have leading the business push in Selma and Dallas County and their attitudes, we have a lot of success coming our way.

Congratulations again Mr. Henry. It is an honor richly deserved.
