Selma City Council president Cecil Williamson remains in an Auburn-area hospital, recovering from a recent surgery.

Selma Mayor George Evans did confirm Williamson went through surgery, but in an attempt to protect the Crescent Hill Presbyterian minister’s privacy, did not confirm what kind of surgery was performed or Williamsons’ condition.

“I did receive an email that the family was asking for everyone’s prayers and that is what we are doing,” Evans said. “Cecil is in our thoughts and in our prayers as is his family.”

Evans said the family has remained in constant contact with city leaders throughout the process and that everyone is in a “wait and see” mode.

Attempts to contact members of Williamson’s family were unsuccessful.
