The second annual Alabama State University president’s tour will hit the ground running beginning April 9.
ASU president William H. Harris and faculty and staff, will make seven stops including Columbus, Ga., Phenix City, Atlanta, Huntsville, Birmingham, Mobile, Montgomery and Selma, with the purpose to recruit new students and visit with former ASU alumni in the area.
The team’s stop in Selma on April 9, will introduce the “President’s Black Belt Luncheon” scheduled for 11 a.m. inside the St. James Hotel. The event is free.
“We are very excited about coming to Selma, a place that has such great historical relevance,” said Kenneth Mullinax, director of media relations. “It’s a great chance to meet up with alumni in the area and meet potential students as well.”
Danielle Kennedy-Lamar, vice president for University Relations, said this tour is to inform the public about the school’s history and give potential students more information about the school.
“We’ve heightened our efforts to give students who are considering ASU some insight,” Lamar said. “There’s nothing better than giving a student’s parents an opportunity to meet the University president.”
