Morgan Academy baseball was able to continue its hot streak with a doubleheader win over Hooper Academy

In the first game of the two, the Senators baseball team exploded out of the box with a 13-1 win over the Colts.

“We played pretty well that game,” Morgan head coach Bob Taylor said. “We took care of business.”

Morgan scored six runs in the first inning, with two coming off a homerun by Ethan Fancher.

The Senators put two more runs on the board in the second and another two in the third inning.

Morgan rounded out the scoring in the first game with a three run fourth inning, this time with another homerun coming from Austin Anderson.

Even though the second game was played in less innings, the scoring came often in the Senators 11-10 win.

The teams traded runs back and fourth in the game, with Hooper leading for much of it after the first inning.

In the fifth and final inning, trailing 10-7, Justin Sealy led off with an error from the Hooper shortstop.

Connor Thorpe singled and Sealy was driven home with a single from Austin Anderson.

Thorpe was moved home with a sacrifice fly from Joel Yarbrough. After Fancher walked, Parker Hughes ended the game with a walk-off double.

The Morgan Academy softball team continued its struggles Tuesday, dropping two games at home to Hooper Academy.

The Lady Senators dropped the first game 4-0 in a game where Morgan hit the ball, just at defenders.

“We were able to hit it, it just went to someone,” Morgan head softball coach Jennifer Moore said. “That happens sometimes. We played well, we just weren’t able to find any holes.”

Morgan was in much of the first game, trailing only 1-0 until the top of the sixth inning, but three runs sealed the Lady Senators fate after a hard fought game.

“We are playing harder right now,” Moore said. “We are playing a complete game and that is what we want.”
