Sensational summer is a great program

In case you haven’t noticed, summer is here and it has arrived with an intensity we rarely see.
Young people who have just gotten out of school probably weren’t banking on temperatures approaching 100-degrees when the school doors closed. The heat warnings and dangerous conditions have certainly caused them to reconsider their summer outdoor plans.
Fortunately, there is a great alternative for young people who want to get out of the house.
The Selma-Dallas County Public Library has a number of exciting programs every day during its “Sensational Selma Summer.”
The program, which runs through July, has everything from magicians and art shows to a petting zoo.
Children in our area are exposed to many shows and programs they might not see, and they are given a fun and productive summer activity.
So many times people say there aren’t enough things for young people in Selma to do during the summer. Well, the library is doing its part to provide great activities.
The best part is the programs are free to the public. All they ask is for reservations when you bring groups of more than five children.
Having already been to two of the programs to shoot photographs, I can tell you the library has done an excellent job of organizing and presenting their daily shows.
Everyone that worked tirelessly to put these presentations together has done a great job and should be commended.
The best thanks you can give them is by taking advantage of the programs and bringing your children.
The second best gift you can give is by supporting the library during the school year as well.
It takes a lot of work to put these programs together.
The library staff works year-round to make sure there is plenty on the slate during summer.
Please make sure you let them know how much you appreciate their efforts.
