An anonymous tip led the Selma Police Department to more than two pounds of marijuana Thursday.
According to Selma Chief of Police William T. Riley the call originally came through the Dallas County Sheriff’s Office and was passed on to his department.
“We received a tip from Crime Stoppers the sheriff let us know about and from that tip we did an investigation,” he said. “We were able to obtain a search warrant where we did a search at 117 N. Mechanic St.”
During the search of the Mechanic Street residence, Riley said officers recovered 2.4 pounds of marijuana and arrested Sammie Lee Edwards, 36, Kyler Green, 33, Brian McCary, 22, Eric Rogers, 32, Michael Wells, 25 and Courtney Williams, 24. Riley said each will be charged with trafficking.
The SRT team and vice squad units were also involved in the operation.
The department was still processing information as of presstime.
The seizure of drugs was the second in three days for the department.
A Tuesday afternoon bust at Merrimac Heights apartment complex, conducted through the Selma Police Department’s narcotics unit executed a search warrant that saw the recovery of crack and powered cocaine worth an estimated $20,000, two revolvers and approximately $3,500.
Undray Allen, 32, was taken into custody.
Riley thanked the person responsible for the anonymous tip and encouraged others to do the same.
“We are grateful to the person that gave us the tip and the sheriff’s office for passing that information on,” he said. “This all started with that anonymous call.”
