The Selma Police Department is still gathering information on a Wednesday shooting that left the victim fighting for his life and led to the arrest of 17-year-old Antonio Reeves.
According to Selma Police Department Lt. Johnny King, a traffic accident actually alerted the department to the incident.
“At about 4 p.m. Wednesday, officers responded to an accident and they found the victim that was being driven to the hospital,” he said. “That’s what alerted us to the shooting.”
The victim, a 17-year-old male, said he was shot on Tucker Avenue in the Selmont area.
Information gathered following interviews led officers to Reeves, whose address is listed as 201 Tucker Ave.
Reeves is being held at the Dallas County Jail on $250,000 bond and was already certified as an adult from a previous offense.
King said officers recovered a .410 shotgun at the scene that they believe was used in the shooting.
The victim, King said, was still undergoing surgeries to save his life from injuries he said “were life threatening.”
As of Thursday, the details leading to the shooting were still being gathered.
