ORRVILLE — Two Orrville residents are recovering from gunshot wounds suffered early Sunday morning outside of Club Neon on Dallas County Road 309. One victim remains in intensive care.
According to investigators with the Dallas County Sheriff’s Department, 20-year-old Jamane Butler is being sought for opening fire outside the club between 1 a.m. and 1:20 a.m. In the process, Butler reportedly shot one 19-year-old woman in the stomach and shot a 20-year-old man multiple times.
“Shortly after 1 a.m. a fight started outside of the club and Jamane allegedly opened fire with a small caliber handgun. In the process, he hit the woman in the stomach area,” Sgt. Mike Granthum said. “After she was shot, a gentlemen walked up to Butler to ask him why he would shoot someone not involved in the fight. At that time, the witness said Jamane fired at him a number of times, hitting him twice in the arm and once in the upper abdomen, lower chest area.”
Reportedly, Jamane and his brother, Cedric, had started being disruptive in the club and was escorted outside of the club by the management before the fight started outside. The club’s management was not involved in the fight.
Granthum said investigators have spent the past two days searching for Jamane, but have not been able to locate the Orrville resident yet.
According to Granthum, warrants have been issued for Butler; one for attempted murder in the shooting of the man, while a second warrant for second-degree assault for the shooting of the woman.
The woman was treated and released Sunday.
“We really want to take Mr. Butler into custody and are asking for the community’s help in locating him,” Granthum said. “We are asking anyone with information on his whereabouts to contact the sheriff’s department or Crime Stoppers.”
Those with information can call the sheriff’s department at (334) 874-2530 or can call anonymously to Crime Stoppers at 866-442-7463.
