Local authorities help in Wilcox bust

COY — Investigators with the Fourth Judicial Circuit Task Force, which includes officers from Dallas County, recently executed a search warrant that resulted in arrests surrounding a Wilcox County meth lab.
Officers raided the 1383 County Road 8 home of Jessica Collins and John Wesley Hicks in Coy. Collins was a resident of the home along with her 3-month-old baby. The baby was turned over to the grandparents.
Collins was taken into custody and later questioned and charged with trafficking of methamphetamine, unlawful manufacture of a controlled substance first degree, chemical endangerment of exposing a child to an environment in which controlled substances are produced or distributed, unlawful possession of a controlled substance, unlawful possession of marijuana, and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia.
Hicks was arrested and charged with unlawful possession of a controlled substance and alcohol charges.
Upon his release from Clarke County, he will be transported to Wilcox County and charged with trafficking in methamphetamine, unlawful manufacturing of a controlled substance first degree, chemical endangerment of exposing a child to an environment in which controlled substances are produced or distributed, unlawful possession of a controlled substance, unlawful possession of marijuana first degree and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia.
Agents recovered a methamphetamine lab, coffee filters containing suspected meth, assorted pills, marijuana plants, assorted marijuana and meth smoking pipes, along with other drug paraphernalia and weapons.
The Bibb County Meth Team and Clarke County Sheriff’s Department assisted in the sting.
