A Thursday afternoon collision between a Lowndes County Sheriff’s vehicle and a Lowndes County School bus on Lowndes County Road 33 in Letohatchee resulted in no injuries to students or the drivers, according to Alabama State Troopers.
The accident occurred at 3:40 p.m. about two miles north of the Calhoun School and involved a Lowndes County 2009 Bluebird school bus and a Lowndes County 2005 Crown Victoria sheriff’s vehicle.
“The bus had flashers on, stop sign out,” Lowndes County School Superintendent Dr. Daniel Boyd said. “The sheriff’s vehicle skidded in the rain and fishtailed into the back of the bus. The back end of the sheriff’s vehicle went into the back of the bus.”
Boyd said while there were 12 students on the bus, “none of the students were injured.” He called the collision, “very low impact.”
Lowndes County Sheriff John Williams also confirmed there were no injuries, but declined to comment on the accident, which was investigated by Troopers.
