The Keith High School Bears turned in another dominant performance to push their record to 4-2 on the season with a 41-0 win over Sunshine.

The Bears wasted little time getting on the board as Martavius Harris, who finished the night with 111 yards on four carries, scored on two of his first three runs.

Harris found paydirt on the Bears’ fourth play from scrimmage as he hit the corner for a 35-yard touchdown run with 8:27 to go in the first quarter to make the score 6-0. Bobby Barnes added the extra point to make it 7-0.

With 3:53 remaining in the opening quarter, Harris again found the endzone, this time from 69 yards out, to make the score 14-0 with the extra point.

Harris said he wanted to help his team start quickly to get the crowd into the game.

“I just wanted us to get off to a fast start,” he said. “You gotta win at home, so we went out and handled our business tonight.”

The Bears did indeed take care of business on both sides of the ball, rolling up 340 yards of offense, while allowing only 5 yards for Sunshine.

In the second quarter, the Bears generated a defensive touchdown when Rodney Ellis intercepted a Tiger pass and went the distance for a 45-yard score with 7:41 remaining in the half. The extra point made the score 21-0.

The Bears continued to play aggressively as a Barnes interception gave Keith the ball at the Tiger 35-yard-line.

Six plays later, Demarqui Lumpkin found the end zone from 16-yards away to make the score 28-0 with 3:35 remaining in the half.

The Bears added one more first-half score when Charles Johnson broke free for a 43-yard touchdown run with 24 seconds to go in the half to make the score 35-0.

The teams agreed to 6-minute quarters in the second half, which slowed the scoring. However, the Bears did add one more touchdown when Barnes broke free on a 14-yard quarterback keeper with 2:13 to cap the scoring at 41-0 after a failed extra point.

Keith head coach Harry Crum said he was happy for another opportunity to empty the bench.

“We played everybody and we didn’t get anybody hurt, God is good,” he said.

“We have homecoming next week, so we have to stay focused. But we’ve done a pretty good job of that this year.”

The Bears will host John Essex Friday.
