A fatal accident on the Cecil Jackson Bypass Sunday afternoon claimed the life of a Valley Grande man and his wife.

Evangelist Taylor Jr., 72, and Joan Taylor, 69, were killed when their vehicle collided with an 18-wheeler.

“It happened at the intersection of the bypass and Plant Street,” Selma Police Sgt. Roy Nix said. “Basically, the couple pulled out in front of an 18-wheeler coming down the bypass.”

The couple was in a Cadillac sedan at the time of the accident, 6 p.m.

Both were transported to Vaughan Regional Medical Center where they were pronounced dead.

The accident is still under investigation. Services for both Evangelist and Joan will be announced at a later date by Lewis Brothers Funeral Home.
