Jermaine Derrell Edwards has been indicted by a Dallas County grand jury for murder, two counts of assault and shooting into an occupied building.

Bond for Edwards, who will be arraigned in Dallas County Circuit Court in three months, was set at $6 million.

Edwards is being held in connection to the April 17 shooting death of Demius Jackson, who was found on the sidewalk at G.W.C. Homes with a gunshot to the back.

Edwards was arrested in June and confessed to shooting.

Selma Chief of Police William T. Riley said the department, after sifting through evidence and through returned reports from the state forensics lab, was able to make an arrest.

Edwards, 17, was taken into custody and interviewed by detectives. During the interviews, Edwards reportedly confessed to the killing and was taken into custody.

Edwards, who goes by the nickname ‘Glock,’ was charged and placed in the Dallas County Jail without bond.

Authorities were also able to confiscate the weapon reportedly used in the murder.

Riley said Edwards had a criminal history, including gun-related charges.

At the time of the shooting, authorities reported the gunshot, which entered Jackson in the back, exited his stomach.

Jackson was rushed to Vaughan Regional Medical Center, where he later died from his injuries.
