SPD makes arrests after Tuesday shooting

Shots fired near the intersection of Broad Street and Highland Tuesday afternoon resulted in two arrests with more likely to follow.
The Jan. 3 robbery led to the arrest of Kenyada Dukes and Alernon Davis on drug charges.
According to Selma Chief of Police William T. Riley, Dukes, 24, was taken into custody on charges of unlawful possession of marijuana first degree and Davis was charged with unlawful possession of marijuana second degree.
Riley said officers were dispatched to Broad Street in reference to a robbery.
“Upon officers arrival they find several subjects fighting,” he said. “Officers broke up the fight and found one individual had sustained a gunshot wound to his upper side chest area. He also suffered from a head wound caused by blunt force.”
The subject was transported to a local hospital where he was treated and released.
During the initial investigation, Riley said Dukes was taken into custody and charged.
A further investigation revealed another individual had been the victim of a robbery which led to the fight among several individuals.
Davis was arrested at the scene.
Riley said the incident is still under investigation and additional arrests are expected when more information is collected..
