Mrs. Dorothy Porterfield McHugh, 69, of Elberton Rd. in Tignall, GA, died Friday, January 6, 2012, at her home.
Mrs. McHugh was born in Fort Deposit, AL, and had lived in this community for 12 years. She was a graduate of Auburn University and was a retired Mathematics Engineer in the Aerospace and Education industries. She was the wife of Marion McHugh, Jr., and was a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Washington.
A funeral mass will be celebrated at 11:00am on Tuesday, January 10, 2012, at the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Washington, GA, with Father Chris Williamson officiating. Interment will follow in the St. Patrick Cemetery in Washington.
Active pallbearers will be Marion E. McHugh III, Patrick McHugh, Brian Long, Jason Van Deusen, Gene McHugh, and Mike Schraml. Honorary pallbearers will be Fred Andrews and Jim Dally.
Mrs. McHugh is survived by her husband, Marion E. McHugh, Jr., of the home; two sons, Marion E. (Sunda) McHugh III , of Greeneville, SC, and Patrick McHugh, of Tignall, GA; two daughters, Connie (Brian) Long, of Warrenville, IL, and Lana (Jason) Van Deusen, of Washington, IN; two sisters, Martha (Peter) Schraml, of Manton, CA, and Annie Coker, of Greeneville, AL; and six grandchildren, Mae McHugh, Alexis Long, Ryan Long, Mac Long, Skyler Van Heusen, and Jasper Van Heusen.
The family will receive friends Monday evening from 6 until 8 at Hopkins Funeral Home in Washington, GA.
