Only days remain to purchase tickets for the Selma & Dallas County Centre for Commerce’s eighth annual meeting.

The meeting, which will be held Thursday, Jan. 26 at the Morgan Convention Center, requires reservations by Friday, Jan. 20.

The meeting, executive director Wayne Vardaman said, offers an opportunity for representatives of several agencies to gather and discuss their triumphs over the last 12 months.

“It’s a big event for us because it is a time for all of our agencies to get together,” he said. “We can have some speakers to show what each of us has accomplished through the year. It’s also a chance for the audience to hear a speaker from the state level to let us know what is going on all over Alabama.”

This year’s speaker will be Wiley Lott, a member of Alabama Power’s Economic and Community Development team. Lott has more than 24 years of governmental, legal, real estate and economic development experience.

Vardaman said Lott could discuss business from several different angles, which makes him a great speaker for this event.

“He’s been all around the state and all around the United States, so he has vast experience to pull from,” he said. “He also does a great job with his delivery. He’s very funny and I think everybody will enjoy him.”

Space is limited, Vardaman said, so it is important to purchase tickets in advance.

Tickets are $30 per person and can be purchased by mailing a request to 912 Selma Ave., Selma, Ala., 36701 or faxing a request to 875-7142.

Vardaman said he highly recommends attending the meeting because it is entertaining and informative.

“It’s a good event,” he said. “It’s a good night for everybody to come together and celebrate the progress we are making in the community.”
