Weather forces school delays

Officials with a number of school outlets have announced they plan to delay the start of school Monday in response to severe weather in the area.
Morgan Academy and Meadowview Christian School have announced they will begin classes at 10 a.m. while officials with Dallas County Schools said classes will begin at 10:30 a.m. Ellwood Christina is reportedly beginning at 10 a.m., while media reports have said TOP Christian Academy delaying their opening until 10 a.m.
The Times-Journal still has not been able to contact any official at the Selma City Schools Central Office, but Byrd Elementary principal Beth Taylor who said she has been telling parents to “use their best judgment” when bringing their children to school this morning. She said she too has not had any word from the central office as to any delayed openings.
Some parents of children who attend Selma City Schools have said school was delayed until 9 a.m., but again no confirmation has been provided by the central office.
Some Selma City Schools have reported that children are arriving for class and that classes will begin on time.
Officials with the Dallas County EMA have also not heard from school officials about their plans.
