A January, 2011 robbery will cost Rodriquez Goldsby 20 years.
Goldsby pled guilty to charges of robbery first degree Monday and was handed a 20-year sentence by Circuit Judge Tommy Jones.
District Attorney Michael Jackson said the two-decade sentence is part of a continued effort to stress a zero tolerance policy for gun crimes.
“We are going to continue to ship these robbers off to prison for a long time,” he said. “Another (criminal) is off the streets.”
Lioria James prosecuted the case.
On Jan. 10, 2011 at about 10:22 p.m., the Selma Police Department responded to a robbery in progress at Junction Amoco Service Station on Highway 14 East.
Detective Fredrick Walker arrived on the scene and made contact with the clerk.
The clerk stated two black males entered the store with guns and demanded money.
Both men, the clerk said, fled the scene in the direction of the Comfort Inn.
A witness observed the two men get into a white Ford Crown Victoria and travel south on the Cecil Jackson Bypass.
The vehicle was later located at G.W.C. Homes.
Officers executed a foot pursuit and Goldsby was taken into custody.
The clerk was able to identify Goldsby as one of the robbers.
