On Thursday, Feb. 9, Selma-Dallas County Tourism and the Selma-Dallas County Chamber of Commerce will travel to Orange Beach in Alabama’s Gulf Cost to promote all things Selma and Dallas County.
Representatives will attend the Alabama Lifestyles Expo to market the area’s attractiveness to Snow Bird groups and persons who plan to retire or relocate.
Chamber executive director Sheryl Smedley said the idea is to promote “the entire community of Selma and Dallas County.”
“We’ve been able to research this out (and) this is where we want to go — show our treasures we have, the wonderful people and hospitality,” Smedley said. “We’re taking info about industrial parks, Spanish Moss (Magazine), colleges — we want to take everything we can … we’re trying to market positively Selma, Alabama.”
For those looking for an ideal place to retire, Smedley said Selma and Dallas County has so much to offer and is “open for business.”
“The cost of living is very reasonable for what we have to offer, with the river and Riverfront Park, etc.,” Smedley said. “We are 45 minutes from the major interstate, which is a four-lane highway. Our climate is good — we don’t have bad weather.
