While the investigation is continuing, Huffman did say his department took two individuals into custody “for questioning.”
“At this point, we really do not have a lot,” he said. “We are questioning some individuals and we have collected information from interviews from some of the residents.”
Huffman said authorities received a call of shots fired before 3 p.m. Wednesday. When the first deputies arrived, they were told there was a body in the field.
“Once they responded they discovered a body in the field. When they went over there, they discovered the body,” Huffman said. “When EMTs arrived and the coroner arrived, he was declared dead.” Huffman said early information leads he and his investigators to think that Johnson was shot near a house near the field and then ran away, landing in the field, succumbing to the severe injuries.
