When the Morgan Academy Senators baseball team hits the diamond for its first game in less than a month, it’ll be doing so with a new leader looking on from the dugout.
Trey Pike was hired Wednesday, Feb. 1 to take over head-coaching duties for the baseball team as last year’s head coach, Bob Taylor, moves on to take over as athletic director and head football coach at Morgan.
Morgan Academy headmaster Randy Skipper said the school is excited to have Pike, who will also be helping the Senators on the gridiron.
“I hired Trey Pike, who’s going to come in and be the head baseball coach and an assistant football coach at Morgan Academy,” Skipper said. “He has previously been the head baseball coach at Pike County High School and head football coach at Crossville High School here in Alabama. We’re very lucky to get him and he starts immediately. He will be the head baseball coach this year. We’re really excited here at Morgan to have him here.”
Pike said he’s excited to be at Morgan and he’s not worried about transitioning from an Alabama High School Athletic Association school to an Alabama Independent School Association school.
