The biggest changes, Siddens said, came with parks and recreations, going from $159,000 to $358,000 in the fixed assets category — a $197,000 increase.
“As you well know it’s the softball complex — almost all of that is the softball complex itself along with some of the things that go along with it,” Siddens said. “The machine to loosen the infield, the batting cages, the portable pitching … mounds, bases, irrigation system … there were some benches and a picnic table bought during the year — a couple of thousand dollars.”
Siddens said the city’s current debt had been paid down $29,000.
Valley Grande Mayor Tom Lee gave the council an update on moving forward with a sewer billing system for 94 residents.
“We’re trying to set the sewer system up as a completely separate entity within Valley Grande’s accounting system … cash in, cash out.” Lee said. “It’s not intended to be a profit-making organization … we’re literally setting this up as an independent business.”
Lee said there would be a $25 flat rate charged to customers for sewer maintenance.
