On Feb. 25, Evans will hold a citywide cleanup from 8 a.m. to noon for all pastors, leaders and organizations to get involved. Volunteers from area churches, U.S. Army Recruiting Offices in Selma and Montgomery, Junior ROTC and youth groups, will also help tackle area “hot spots” that need attention.

“We will organize at council chambers,” Evans said.

“At noon, we’ll team up and move throughout the city. Then, we’ll meet up again, and we’ll give a report on the wrap up.”

Evans said it’s all about helping the Selma community become a better place.

“It’s about people working together to clean up (and) rebuild our community,” Evans said.
