Lady Hornets’ head coach Charles Thompson questioned the officiating down the stretch, but ultimately said his team missed some golden opportunities.
“Honestly, there were some questionable calls at the end, but we’ll never use that as an excuse as to why we lost the game,” Thompson said. “Congratulations to coach Bothwell and the Lady Panthers.”
The Lady Hornets held the lead since 3:11 in the second quarter, until a 3-pointer by Southside’s Tanisha Blevins gave the Lady Panthers a 34-32 lead with 3:44 left in the fourth quarter.
Dallas County tied the game at 38-38 on a free throw from Takeela Mixon, but Southside held on down the stretch.
Nelson led the Lady Panthers with 11 points, while Mixon led the Lady Hornets with 12 points.
