Last-minute Valentine’s

“It happens every year. People forget,” Albritton said. “They don’t think about it. When they call at the last minute they don’t realize that everything we do is just like a little manufacturing plant. It’s got to be produced and made. It’s not just sitting on the shelf, then you pull it off and go with it. It takes a lot of time to get things ready and to get an order ready to go.”
Mack Wilkerson, owner of the Flower Basket, said his store will make about 300 deliveries and he expects calls about deliveries will continue on Valentine’s Day, but no more orders will be taken on the day.
However, Wilkerson said there are still gifts on hand for those scrambling at the last minute.
“We’ll have anything, from the roses to cut arrangements, candy baskets, stuffed animals,” Wilkerson said. “We’ve got a variety of gift items, such as candles and stuff like that.”
