Dallas teams prepare for sub-regionals

With area tournaments now in the books, local high school basketball teams are focusing their attention on the sub-regional playoffs, where one loss means your season is over.
The sub-regional playoffs begin Feb. 16 with the girl’s teams and continue on Feb. 17 with the boy’s teams.
Five local teams will host a central sub-regional playoff, while two will travel.
After both claimed Class 5A Area 5 championships, the Selma boys (18-11) and the Lady Saints (24-3) will host a sub-regional game.
The Lady Saints will host Eufaula at 3 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 16 at Wallace Community College-Selma, while the Selma boys will host Rehobeth High School at Wallace on Friday, Feb. 17 at 7 p.m.
The Keith Lady Bears (20-5) will host St. Jude at Keith High School on Thursday, Feb. 16 at 7 p.m. after taking the Class 1A Area 5 title.
After defeating rival Dallas County in the Class 4A Area 6 title game, the Southside Lady Panthers (16-8) will host Elmore County at 6 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 16, while the Dallas County Lady Hornets (14-7) will travel to Dadeville High School to play at 6 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 16.
