VALLEY GRANDE — The Valley Grande City Council voted Monday to adopt an ordinance detailing the inner workings of its sewer system, which will include a procedural manual for residents, schedule of fees and cutoff notices for delinquent accounts.
Valley Grande Mayor Tom Lee’s message to residents: “please pay your bill.”
“Our bills are going to be extremely low but our requirements will be extremely high,” Lee said. “They got basically a month to pay their bill.”
The future system would impact about 100 homes, Lee said, and residents would pay a $25 flat rate. Lee said currently, 34 percent of Overlook Hills’ residents have not paid their previous sewer bills with former company, Phoenix Water Resources LLC.
“We’re not requiring a deposit … the month of February is free to them,” Lee said. “It’s going to be a circus the first month until we get everything worked out.”
Lee said after two consecutive lapses in payment from a resident, the city will disconnect that individual’s line and a $150 fee must be paid in order for service to be reinstated.
