Time for amnesty runs out today

You’ve had the entire month of February. Heck, you’ve even had a Leap Year February, complete with 29 days. At the close of business today, there really isn’t any excuse at all for why those with old traffic tickets from the city of Selma just couldn’t find to pay them off.

Today marks the end to the month-long amnesty program offered by the city’s municipal courts, giving those with tickets the opportunity to come in, pay the ticket — or set up a payment plan — with no questions asked and no penalty.

According to chief magistrate June Taylor, the program has been — at first glance — successful, with hundreds of resident taking advantage of the program.

She said some tickets, as much as $1,000, have been paid or payment plans have been established to pay off the tickets.
