Smith said he has to raise about $950 for the camp and $2,000 for the games he’ll play in.

Smith is raising funds to prepare to leave to meet his coaches on April 1 and to participate in practices that will take place in Fort Lauderdale, Fla.

Smith said continued hard work will be his focus heading into the event.

“I think it’s going to take a lot of hard work,” Smith said. “It’s going to be more of a mental thing than more of a physical thing because you’re not going to be able to make it anywhere without criticism and stuff. I know I just can’t go up there thinking that every coach is going to look at me and smile and shake my hand. I’ve got to go up there with an attitude to win. Whether you’re losing or not, you’ve got to have a winning attitude.”
