Weather won’t slow Jubilee events

With hazardous weather in the forecast this weekend, organizers of the annual Bridge Crossing Jubilee say the show will still go on.
Until the weather passes, event coordinator Sam Walker said Saturday’s music venues will begin at 1 p.m.
“The weather service anticipates the rain Saturday morning to be moved out by noon,” Walker said. “We’ll delay events to see if the weather will hold off.”
In the event of rain, organizers will move events indoors.
“The Gospel stage will be moved to Pickard Auditorium and the non-Gospel, will be inside the Old National Guard Armory on Dallas Avenue,” Walker said.
Walker expects this year’s Jubilee to be a huge success.
“I think it’s going to be our biggest and best Jubilee,” Walker said. “We’ve done it for 19 years, so we’re very excited about this year’s event.”
Other events on Friday include: a Children’s Sojourn from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. inside the Slavery and Civil War Museum, Shiloh Elementary and J.A. Pickard Auditorium, an Invisible Giants Education tour from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m., an induction into the Women’s Hall of Fame from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. inside the National Voting Rights Museum; an induction into Legal Guardians Room from 4:30 p.m. to 5 p.m. inside the National Voting Rights Museum; a mock trial from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. inside the Dallas County Courthouse and a “Stomp Out to Vote” Step Show from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. inside the Old National Guard Armory and much more.
