Keep making history women

March is Women’s History Month. And for those who’ve been reading my columns for the past 16 months, they know I’m quite the supporter of anything revolving around women.
Women have incomparable strength, ingenuity, creativity, tenacity and courage. Throughout the centuries, women have made their mark in wars, business, government and in sciences, among others.
I have a few favorites myself: first, there’s Mariah Carey, who’s set records in the music industry; next, there’s Mary Mcleod-Bethune, whose partnership with former first lady Eleanor Roosevelt helped move African Americans further in education; then there’s Elizabeth Taylor, the iconic Hollywood actress of the 1950s and 1960s and finally, Ida B. Wells-Barnett, teacher, reporter and civil rights advocate, who was influential in making sure statistics of early lynchings were documented. And of course, we can’t forget women like Elizabeth Cady Stanton and Lucretia Mott, who fought for women’s voting rights in the early 20th century.
Where would America be without women? The momentum behind many of the nation’s biggest movements — Women’s Suffrage, civil rights and voting rights and worker’s rights, would not have been as memorable, if it weren’t for women being behind the scenes and pushing things to the forefront.
Women are strong. Women are passionate. Women are mothers, friends, wives and confidantes. Women are truly amazing individuals — with ideas, solutions and careers that can change the world.
This month, take the time to thank a woman in your life.
And women, lets continue making history.
