As an artist herself, Weir said the artists from out-of-town, were ecstatic with what Selma and Dallas County had to offer. “Everyone was so thrilled to come and do the Pilgrimage, especially with the variety offered with the country and the city,” Weir said. “They love that.”   Another Pilgrimage in the books As Pilgrimage co-chair Jacque Johnson drove to dinner Saturday night, a well-deserved break, she had a chance to reflect on the completed 2012 Pilgrimage. “I think it went very well,” Johnson said. “We had pilgrims from all over. We had some from New Zealand, Canada, Iowa, Tennessee, Kentucky, lots and lots of states represented. Lots of people came to Selma this weekend and I think they had a great time.” Johnson said it was far too early to know just how many tickets were sold for this year’s event, but she did know the event was once again profitable and was blessed with fantastic weather. “It was a gorgeous weekend and I am so thankful for that,” she said. Another item on Johnson’s thankful list is the reception Pilgrimage officials received to some of the many changes to this year’s event, including adding locations in Orrville and Valley Grande. “We had a lot of people going out to Orrville for the country tour,” she said. “In talking to the pilgrims that I saw, they were very pleased. We have many people that are return visitors and I think they were excited to see something new and different.” Johnson also said visitors this year enjoyed the very busy schedule laid out for Friday and Saturday. “There really was a lot on the schedule for everyone to keep busy,” Johnson said. “We saw some people who had been going all weekend, they thought two days was plenty of time to see everything but they quickly found out they were really hoofing it to get everything in. We had so much to offer.”
