A Selma man and his girlfriend were asleep early Wednesday morning, when the woman’s ex-husband entered the home carrying what police described as “a large knife.”
According to Selma Police officials, at around 4:50 a.m. Wednesday, the couple was asleep in their bed in their residence in the 3100 block of Lincoln Drive, when Aaron Fails reportedly forced his way into the residence by kicking in the back door.
“Once inside, Mr. Fails, produced a large knife and began to stab the victim several times,” Selma Chief of Police William T. Riley said. He described the person stabbed as the woman’s boyfriend. “Also during the incident, the suspect assaulted his ex-spouse.”
Riley said that after assaulting his ex-wife, Fails reportedly left the residence.
Police responded to Vaughan Regional Medical Center shortly after 5 a.m., where they found the victim had suffered at least four stab wounds. The victim, who police did not identify, was treated for his wound and released. The ex-wife, who was also not identified, did not require any medical attention.
The victims identified Fails as the attacker and police were able to apprehend the suspect later that morning “in the immediate area.”
Fails, 38, was charged and placed in the Dallas County Jail under $120,000 bond. He is charged with first-degree burglary and second-degree assault.
