Nannie Sue Weedon Langston

Nannie Sue Weedon Langston, age 90, passed away Sunday, April 15, 2012 in Selma.

Nannie was born September 5, 1921, in Collirene to James Leroy Weedon and Maggie Alice Todd Weedon. She was the youngest of seven siblings and the only daughter. She graduated from Carlowville High School in May 1940 and married the love of her life, Heber Meeks Langston, on January 27, 1941. They were married for 64 years. Because of his military career, Nan followed Heber to the Philippines and to Amarillo, Texas, but the family’s deep Alabama roots brought them back to Selma and Dallas County. Nan was a devoted mother and also took pride in her secretarial positions at Craig, Maxwell and Amarillo Air Force Bases. She was an amateur genealogist, an avid University of Alabama football fan and Atlanta Braves fan. Nan was a life-long member of Casey Church of Christ. She was loved by everyone who met her.

Nan was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and her seven brothers, Alvin, Henry, James, Robert, Willie, Gordon, and Eddie Weedon.

She is survived by three children, Hugh Langston (Judith) of Woodway, Texas, Alice L. Russell (Randy) of Prattville, and Myrtle R. Mitchell (Donald) of Hartselle; ten grandchildren, Lisa Blount (George) of Gatesville, Texas, Michael Todd Langston of Waco, Texas, Laurie Ross (Eddie) of Deatsville, Daryl Todd LaPorte of Birmingham, Amy Aldridge (Eric) of Wetumpka, Allison Farrow (Carl) and Sheri Bailey (Tom) of Salado, Texas, Gina R. Fuller (Bruce) of Selma, Ellen Terrell (Mitchell) of Abita Springs, Louisiana; sixteen great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

The family thanks the staff at Cedar Hill, Cahaba Hospice and her caretaker, Shirley Hill for their loving care and support.

The family will receive visitors between 6:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. at Selma Funeral Home onWednesday, April 18, 2012. The service will be on Thursday, April 19, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at Selma Funeral Home with Tom McLemore officiating followed by interment at Casey Cemetery at 8521 U.S. Highway 80 East with Selma Funeral Home directing.

Pallbearers will be Eddie Ross, Todd LaPorte, Eric Aldridge, Christian Stephens, Bruce Fuller, Braxton Fuller and Michael Langston. The honorary pallbearer is Robert Quarles.
