Edna Harris Eiland

Edna Harris Eiland, age 91, of Selma, died Sunday April 15, 2012. She was preceded in death by her husband, Oliver Goldsmith “Spike” Eiland; brothers, Martin Harris, John Harris and Edward Harris; sisters, Calleye McCanse and Grace H. Casey. Survivors include her sister, Ouida Ballard of Atlanta, GA; brother, Robert Harris of Plantersville, AL and numerous nieces and
nephews.
A Methodist, she married a Presbyterian: a member of Pisgah Presbyterian Church in Potters Station, Alabama. She and her new husband , O.G. joined the First Presbyterian Church of Selma, Alabama in 1946. First Presbyterian quickly became her home until her death. She quickly became active in the many activities of her church and was unknown for her quite but tireless devotion and service to her family, friends and community. Elected an Elder in the Church in 1995, her commitment grew tenfold. Teamed with her dear friend, Josephine Ames, she became fixed in all circumstances in her Christian service. Edna served as was commanded by her faith expressed in John 21:15, 16, 17, and 18 to: “ Feed my lambs.” “ Tend my sheep.”, “”Feed my Sheep.”, “Follow me.”
A chapel service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday April 20, 2012 at Lawrence Brown-Service Funeral Home with Reverend Sid McCollum officiating and burial following at New Live Oak Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be John McCune, Samuel Warren, and the Staff of Lawrence Brown-Service Funeral Home.
