A man seen on surveillance video groping a woman outside the Selma Post Office is now in custody, according to a release from the Selma Police Department.
Freddie Dewayne McCampbell has been arrested, charged with first-degree sexual assault and placed in the Dallas County Jail without bond.
McCampbell is accused of approaching a woman as she was leaving the post office and sticking his hand up her dress.
“A female victim stated that an unknown black male touched her without consent,” Selma Chief of Police William T. Riley said. “The victim said as she walked out of the post office, she felt something press up against her buttocks. As she turned around, she observed the suspect later identified as Freddie Dewayne McCampbell, reaching under the rear of her dress.”
Riley said the victim reported McCampbell “smiled at her and walked away.”
A copy of the surveillance video from the post office was later recovered and reviewed.
