Lola Anderson Doss

Mrs. Lola Anderson Doss of Selma, Alabama, was born on February 12, 1937 in Selma, Alabama, to the late Henry Anderson and the late Nancy King Anderson. She was the sixth child and the only girl. She departed this life on Sunday, June 3, 2012, at 5:30 P.M. at Vaughn Regional Hospital, Selma, AL.

Lola was a musician from the heart and gave many musicians their start in the field of gospel by teaching private music lessons. She was the musician, playing the piano and organ, for several great church choirs including Sandridge Route 3, West Trinity, Shiloh, Siloam, Mt. Zion Primitive, Summer Grove, Plant Street, and First Baptist Church in Calera, Alabama.

A loving and devoted family of survivors include: two sons, Terry (Patricia) Walker, and Leonard Doss, Selma, AL; two daughters, Sandra Grayson Battle, Bethesda, MD, and Nancy (Eddie) Walker, Selma, AL; two brothers, Bishop Moses Anderson, Dearborn, MI, and Woodrow Williams, Montgomery, AL; one sister-in-law, Susie Watkins, Selma, AL; two daughters-in-law; twelve grandchildren; three great grandchildren; God children, Maurice and Rosalind Harris; God son, Joseph Rumph; devoted friends, Tommy and Debra Oliver, Jesse and Barbara Sanders, Ann Williams and Alicia Flennory; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends.

Lola was preceded in death by her mother and father, Henry and Nancy Anderson; three brothers: Herman Anderson, Earl Anderson, and Sandy Grayson; her oldest son, Marvin Walker; and her oldest daughter, Jacqueline Walker.

Homegoing services are scheduled for Friday, June 8th, 2012, at 1 p.m. at Ebenezer Baptist Church with Pastor F. D. Reese and Pastor Maurice Harris officiating.
