Roughly 10 days after being shot by a security guard at Club Entourage, Rodney Rashad Aaron has been arrested and formally charged with four counts of attempted murder and one count of murder.
According to Lt. Johnny King with the Selma Police Department, Aaron was discharged from Baptist Hospital Tuesday and taken into custody, booked and placed in the Dallas County Jail with a total bond of $2 million.
In an earlier interview, Selma Chief of Police William T. Riley said the two shooters came back to the club after being kicked out earlier and fired indiscriminately into the crowd of patrons. Four of the patrons were injured — all suffering gunshots to their legs — before the club’s security guard returned fire, killing one of the reported shooters and critically injuring Aaron.
When officers and paramedics arrived, they discovered Aaron still on the scene. He was immediately transported to Montgomery where he received immediate care.
Although he is not the one who shot and killed the one person who died, his actions led to the death of another, which is why the District Attorney’s office and the Selma Police Department have charged him with one count of murder.
Aaron was reportedly discharged from the hospital shortly after 4 p.m., where officers were waiting to take him into custody.
During Tuesday’s regular meeting, the Selma City Council scheduled a hearing to decide on whether to revoke the business license for Club Entourage. The hearing will be the Tuesday, June 20 at 5 p.m.
