The final day to qualify for the municipal elections was Tuesday, July 17. The next day, the Times-Journal worked to notify candidates of a questionnaire and special section aimed at highlighting some of the biggest issues facing Selma, Valley Grande and Orrville.

The candidates have until Friday, Aug. 3 — this Friday — to not only pick up the questionnaires but to have the questionnaire returned.

To date, only a few candidates have failed to pick up the questionnaire and as of Wednesday evening, only two candidates have decided to not participate in the issue-focused questionnaire.

“The goal of this is to give candidates a chance to give their thoughts — their positions — on some of the main issues up for debate this election season,” Times-Journal editor Tim Reeves said. “We hope everyone returns their questionnaires on time.”

As with deadlines, any questionnaire received by the Times-Journal after Friday, Aug. 3 at 5 p.m. will not be accepted.

Also, Friday marks the final day the Times-Journal will accept the free, announcement stories the newspaper has made available to all candidates.
