Isaac is a storm worthy of respect

Here we are again, facing the beginning of the 2012 hurricane season. The first storm up to bat is tropical storm Isaac and many in town might be ready to sleep through it.
But before you brush this storm off, thinking we will just get wind-blown, remember that storms in the past have actually damaged and hurt our city.
Officials from the Dallas County EMA say this storm will be hazardous and everyone needs to prepare for the worst. In 2005, hurricane Katrina devastated New Orleans — but it did not leave out Selma. It took down trees throughout and ripped off roofs. Also hurricane Ivan did a number.
Watch the news throughout the entirety of the storm and be well-informed and ready to take shelter if things are to turn for the worst. Stay alert and have a plan in place for if something were to happen. If your children sleep in a room near large tree branches, move them to another room on Tuesday night — when the storm is most likely to come this way.
Stay alert — not just because officials want you to, but for your own safety and the safety of your family members.
Be safe while in your homes and traveling out to the polls to vote.
