Rev. Charles E. Simmons (Sandy) age 66, a resident of Selma, AL went home to be with his Lord on November 2, 2012. He was surrounded by his family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents Claude and Nora Taylor Simmons, and his sister Sara Dale Simmons. He is survived by his wife, Vickie, son, Brandon, daughter Mary-Carter, daughter-in-law, Tracy, grandsons Andrew and Tad. He also leaves behind nieces, Rebecca, Amanda, Meg, Claire, Cara, Jessica,and Anna, nephews Barry, Ray, and Marcus, as well as his other “children”, Amanda, Heather, and Kandice.Sandy had been a pastor in the United Methodist Church for over forty-six years and was serving as the pastor of the Orrville United Methodist Church, Marion Junction United Methodist Church and Center Chapel United Methodist Church at the time of his death. He also served as chaplain at the Wiregrass Hospice for many years. Through his faithful ministry to his Lord, Sandy touched the heart and lives of many people. Memorial services will be held on Thursday, November 8, 2012 at 2:30 p.m. from Orrville United Methodist Church with Dr. John Ed Mathison, Dr. George Mathison and Rev. Reid Crotty officiating. The family will receive friends from 1-2:30 on November 8, 2012 at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the churches he was serving at the time of his death.
