Breakfast recognized hard worker

We are lucky to have so many hard-working residents in Selma, and we are especially happy when they get recognized for their time and dedication.
Becky Nichols of the Selma-Dallas County Library is an excellent example of a hard-working Selmian, and we are glad she received recognition at the 20th Annual Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Unity Breakfast. Nichols was given the prestigious Distinguished Citizen Award, something few achieve. If you ever visit the library, it is clear that Nichols is both the library’s driving force and it’s biggest cheerleader. Nichols works endlessly to provide Selma and Dallas County with innovative programs that encourage reading at the library. Her “library card blitz” alone made sure that every first grader in the city and county had a library card. Not many library directors would take the time and effort to launch a program of that magnitude, and we commend Nichol for her great effort.
We know there are many more people who also exemplify characteristics similar to Nichols and to them we extend a large “thank you” for everything they do for Selma and Dallas County.
