Dixie Flips gymnasts shine in meet

Dixie Flips Gymnastics were well represented by three of its members on Feb. 16 at the Montgomery Invitational meet.

Evey Craig, completing level 3, Jr. A division, had her best meet ever. She placed first on vault with an 8.9; first on bars with an 8.0; second on beam with an 8.575; first on floor with an 8.55; and first all around with a total score of 34.025.

Madi Britt, competing in her first meet, achieved several personal bests on different elements. She competed level 3, Sr. A division. She placed seventh on vault with an 8.5; fifth on bars with a 7.95; sixth on beam with a 7.475; seventh on floor with a 7.55; and seventh all around with a total score of 30.4.

Sarah Lloyd Free, competing for the first time as a level 4 gymnast, once again dominated the competition. She took first place in all four events and all around. Her scores were 9.175 on vault, 9.325 on bars, 8.5 on beam, 8.55 on floor and a total of 35.55 all around.

The Dixie Flips will compete in one more meet for the spring season in March in Tuscaloosa, and will host a “Fun Meet” at their gym for all the students in April.
