Selma’s Miles has five quality backs to choose from

Selma High School head football coach has a decision to make.
After weeks of weight lifting, spring drills and spring jamboree Friday night, one thing remains up in the air for the Saints. Who will be in the starting backfield as running back?
“At this point, we do not have a number one back, but what we do have is five backs that could start, and that is a wonderful problem to have,” a very pleased Miles said following Friday’s Jamboree that saw his Saints defeat both Booker T. Washington and Keith. “What we have to do now is figure out a way to change a few things to find ways to get more of them on the field.”
Charvis Woods, Adam Bruno, Kendarius Merchant, Davion Dubose and Cique Coles have each had a strong spring, Miles said, and each will likely find quality playing time when the 2013 season kicks off in August.
Friday evening, Miles said he and his staff went into the games knowing they wanted to run the ball and control the flow of the game. They just weren’t sure they would be able to do it so well.
Boggs, Merchant and Bruno each scored touchdowns in the Saints first two-quarter game against Booker T. Washington, while Dubose and fullback Ricky Austin each scored in the Saints two-quarter win over in-county rival Keith.
