Spring is a busy time for Selma, Dallas County

Spring has finally arrived. As the weather warms and the days grow longer our community is blooming with all kinds of wonderful things. Whether it’s a springtime project, outdoor recreation, annual events, sports, health initiatives, or new businesses openings; our community is blooming.
With over 1,906 business establishments invested in our community, I encourage you to LOVE Local and SHOP Selma first. Our retail trade employs over 2,000 people to provide goods and services to residents and visitors throughout our community.
Speaking of visitors, we are excited to again host the AHSAA Track Meet for the third year at the Memorial Stadium on May 2 and 3. Over 194 high schools across the state will be visiting our city to experience our hospitality. And plans are underway for the 149th Battle of Selma re-enactment which is expected to draw a crowd of 3,000 plus to our city.
At the Chamber of Commerce, we are busy planning our 17th Annual Golf Tournament to be played at the Valley Grande Golf Course on Wednesday, April 23. This is the only fundraiser the Chamber has and the funds go toward the day-to-day operations of the Chamber programs of works.
Show your support by joining us on the greens or as a hole sponsor. For more details, contact the Chamber at 875-7241.
Another event we are planning is our annual Chamber Membership Drive for May 15. Larry Lewis and committee are organizing this event to be a success.
Don’t forget our 3rd Annual Shred-It Day here at the Chamber set for Friday, April 11 from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. This event is again sponsored by Riverdale Credit Union.
Happy spring.
